Apparel & Identity

Maknesan

Maknesan is our apparel line. Heavyweight, garment-dyed tees built around one mark — a stamp. Postage is the oldest proof that something travelled, and every piece in the line is put together from that idea.

A woman seen from behind, hair pinned up, wearing the washed charcoal Maknesan tee with light denim. The back print reads LONDON in heavy black type above a collage of Caribbean postage stamps — Jamaica, St. Lucia, Bahamas, St. Vincent, Barbados, St. Kitts & Nevis, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago — franked with round Notting Hill postmarks.
A man seen from behind wearing the washed black Maknesan tee. On this colourway the LONDON wordmark is printed in white, and the same Caribbean stamp collage sits below it in full colour against the dark ground.

    The mark

    Maknesan

The chest carries the stamp patch: an M set inside a perforated square, the wordmark underneath. It is small on purpose. The garment does the talking; the mark only signs it.

The back print is the counterweight — a collage of stamps under a heavy LONDON wordmark, franked with postmarks. It is a record of a route, not a slogan. The same print runs across the colourways, and reads differently on each one.
